Opening day over the canyons

Two marlin raised, one tagged and released after a 40 minute fight on our first canyon trip of the season.

Marlin Maker cleared the breakwater at 5:00 for the first Marlin Hunt of the season. The water over the canyon edge was a deep, clean blue, and by 9:00 we had our first fish up in the spread.

It missed the lure twice and left. The second fish, an hour later, did not miss. Our guest Daniel fought it from the chair for 40 minutes before Captain Mara brought it alongside, tagged it for the research program and sent it back.

Tag and release

Every billfish we catch is tagged and released. The tag data goes to the marine institute and helps map how these fish move along the coast. You will get an email if your fish is ever recaptured.

Marlin Hunts are full-day private charters for up to five anglers. The best weeks are usually around the full moon.
